Cause for Paws event
A food drive for furry ones is the motive behind Cause for Paws to help the local Humane Society endure a challenging financial time. Bring canned or dry food for dogs and cats and hear a concert by Christian recording artist Christina Sanders. Other artists on hand will be painter Tania Romero, opera singer Teresa Williams and fashion designer LaDaska Mechelle. It’s Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Michael Murphy Gallery, 2701 S MacDill Ave. in Tampa Cause for Paws
Outback Steakhouse National Spokesperson (Wayne Cook; AKA “Cookie”) will be the guest server and host at 717 “Guest Bartender Night” on May 6th (8 P. M till close). All tips going to Cookie’s favorite local Tampa charity “United Cerebral Palsy”. Wayne was born with cerebral palsy but has never let that hold him back. From 1994 to 1998 he was an elite racer on the disabled international ski circuit. One of the highlights of his career was winning a bronze medal at the 1996 Canadian National Championships in the Giant Slalom event. Wayne spent 3 years as a motivational speaker appearing at Senior PGA tournaments.
“Artists have the ability to touch the society so profoundly that positive change can come about as a direct result. Our greatest thinkers throughout history have always thought outside the box. Artists have always been the greatest advocates of human rights because they know so well how vital it is that the individual’s freedom of Self-expression is protected. Therefore I have formed Artists for Human Rights to give voice and bring about greater awareness among all peoples of the world of all of our human rights as laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Because artists have the ability to elevate the culture, we as artists, uniting to make known the human rights of all people of the world, can bring about greater peace and tolerance.”
